Wading Bird Pretty Flamingoes

Wading Bird Pretty Flamingoes
If you look down at your knee you will notice that it bends backwards whereas your ankle bends forwards. Next time you see a bird, have a good look at the joint in the middle of its leg do you notice that it bends forwards! This is because the joint in the middle of a bird's leg is its ankle, not its knee. Its knee is high up on the leg, usually under the feathers. Elongating the foot by placing the ankle half way up the leg is Nature's way of making a bird's leg longer, thinner and lighter, with the heavy muscles only at the top near the body.
